This website is funded entirely by the Webmaster but with the co-operation of the National Trust. Some of the pages
would have been impossible to produce without access to National Trust information and their archives. We are seeking
information about the Batteries so if you have relevant material, particularly of an historical nature, please email the
Webmaster with details.
The pages have been tested with Firefox 3.5, Internet Explorer 8.0, Opera 10.1 and Safari 4.0 (Windows Version) and found
to appear as designed, if you have any difficulty please email the Webmaster. If you are using an earlier browser version
why not upgrade? Firefox is free, as are other browsers, is less than an 8mb download and will run on most Windows versions.
Javascript is used for popup windows, to display photographs and images supporting the text, and the drop-down menu. If you
choose to have Javascript turned off the images should appear in a new window and you will have to use the browser back
button to return to the source page. Navigation through the pages is possible by using the browser back button to return
to the "Home" page. The same conventions have been used on all the pages; underlined text in blue will either redirect to
another page or popup when clicked or will initiate a popup when the cursor is hovered over it. The page content box is
just over 700 pixels wide so a 800 pixel wide viewport should allow all the page to be seen without a horizontal
scrollbar. Except in a few instances web safe colours have been used but it is recommended you have your monitor set to
display a minimum of 16 bit colour.
The photograph above is of the Webmaster receiving the Marsh Heritage Volunteer Award, from Brian Marsh, on behalf of the
volunteers who are working to open the Needles New Battery. The award is given annually by the Marsh Christian Trust in
association with the National Trust.
